Pete: What's WWL ranting about didn't minding drawing? Who?
WWL: What ya ranting about?
I'm kinda sticking to this colour cos it's all dark and dreary right now, but once we see the light of day... who knows? I'll try muted colours with lotsa lens flares for my flashback, but see how lor.

ARGH! I somehow closed my explorer window! Curse my damn dreamweaver ultradev 4.0!
ok. we all hate shonenson. His English is crap. YUCKS!
Too late about shortening title on page. :Þ WWL> Please give me comment for me to post up NOW.
I'm pro-sex. that ok? In the closet anyway then. Thing is, everybody has viewpoints. me too! I lean more on pro-life, cosidering i'm too poor for condoms. (joking). But seriously, i feel more pro-life, but common sense says pro-choice.
more or less confirmed pic. Happy? Unhappy? Full of pent up sexual energy? Tell me.
and if you go to page2.jpg, you'll see the relettered version.
Jami... has rather fixed opinions... but he's ok i guess. Wants to get a phd in biology. some kind of it.

no, no cute girls.... as much as I like girls who like hentai, the thought of a REAL existence of female hentai fans scares the living hell outta me.
Wai.... when you mentioned Monty Python today, I wasn't sure if you were referring to the Every Sperm is Sacred song.... Nick Doray (also a catholic) first introduced it to me, and we had a really long laugh after that... I read Sinfest, I watch WWE... nothing is sacred to me. It's only when people publicly oppose my views in vehement and insensitive words do I take offense.
Script is less than half-done. Yes... Me decided not to post comments after all.... I really have nothing personal to say about the comic. I'm just more than satisfied to see the finished product. Chong: Wailiong wants to write one comment.
Yes, I think I like Sound of Silence.... We can shorten it to SOS... which might be a subtle call for help. =P
Yes, Catholics are against contraception as well as abortion. We see it as 'evils' (note: necessary or not) that derive from a loss of respect for sexual intercourse. But that's just me and the Pope, I suppose. Most Catholics (Filipinos for example) have no idea such a 'ruling' exists, or feign ignorance. But yes, I have heard the pro-choice argument (from Jamiroquai of the 313 forums), and I don't disagree that there are many reasons why abortion should be legalised. I guess I'll just stay a closet pro-life supporter.
Who's Alex, Chong? *wait... you're on ICQ.... oh well*

Remember? You didn't want illustrated cos in comic form, at least the people can be distracted by the various art, instead of you having to have one big piece, which would be a focal point each time, and would have to tell the story within a picture.
Chong is always colouring, and figuring out why on earth everything looks psychedelic. but yeah, save on the shading, cos in the end, even for page 3 and 4, you didn't shade everything that was required anyway, so why bother? half shade half no shade this time on the same page a little cuckoo already, so let's not shade, and leave it as that, so you can concentrate on your lines.
Write one what? This one boggles the boggle.
For me, as long as there's sex to go around, I'm fine with it.
WWL: Oh, and on your blog, 2 mistakes: It's Sleeping in Flame not The Sleeping Flame... quite different connotations anyway. And you forgot to unitalicise the last bit where you said nothing personal.

The thing about only me commenting at the bottom? I believe I may have mentioned it once or twice before. HOWEVER, nobody knows about it. Here it is in all it's point form glory for all to understand.
1) All of you can comment. Just email me.
And i see we share a birthday with 4 luminaries. Interesting.
Thing is, I don't I've told you guys before about this. but Pete should still write, with sufficient information as a guide so that if WWL's stuck, he has something to really fall back on. WWL could then attempt to draw, and if it fails, intepret the general storyline his own way, and then finally, the buck passes to pete to clean up some dialogue, or to me to just key the damn things in. I know I have like the most simple job, so sorry if my current way of thinking sounds too simplistic.
If you need _me_ to work on the dialogue too, that'll be fine I guess, once I get over my 60 buck project.
Illustrated story? in the we did decide otherwise non-conditionally, so let's move on from that. it's kinda really too late.
pete: you may not be able to draw in detail, but at least you can kinda imagine where things go, and you've read enough comics to know, more or less, right? Then if you want you can provide little thumbnails for wwl to depend on, but still leaving him with his pencil and eraser in the end.
Pete, dialogue may be simpler, but you're the one who wanted Chris Claremont style, and we've gone with that so far, so let's stick with that if you shall. Oh, and there's... no inking.
It stays: Storyteller: Peter Lin. Interpreter: Wong Wailiong. Homeless Bum: Alvin Le Magnifico. Something like that. You wanna use pen names? tell me now. got 1 week to confirm.
If script is a draft... could you complete it? Think it thru. i know you have many outside commitments, but just give it some time to settle in and things'll be fine. cos at any rate, we now have a schedule.

Thanks for taking the effort to come up with this, Wailiong... if you want, I can keep character appearances to a minimum? Or... uh.... no, that won't work.... I was going to mention 'illustrated story' but after Wailiong's already done 4++ pages, I think it might be a waste.
I don't see how the face-to-face scene is impossible in real life.... but you've made your point, and I should have both reality and the artist in mind the next time I work on the script. Of course, the best thing would be for ME to do the storyboards.... if you're okay with that....
Heh... and I just realised how much simpler your dialogue is... ah well... maybe the credits should read: Storyteller (Writer, Pencils, Inks): Wong Wailiong -- Plot and Characters: Peter Lin -- Colouring and Finishes: Alvin Chong
The truth is, I suck... I have the easiest job, and I can't even do that right. You have a right to be pissed, because I really just wanted to tell a story, without bothering to check if it worked. The script is more a draft than anything else... Have I mentioned, I suck?

I don't see why we should delay it any longer...
Let the world know that 313 begins life on 25th September 2002!
Just one thing... is it possible to have someone other than Alvin commenting at the bottom? Not that I'm complaining, of course.
Heh... guess what? 313 shares its birthday with the following people:
1) Michael Douglas (Jack Colton in action flick Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile)
2) Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker from the original Star Wars trilogy)
3) Christopher Reeve (Superman from the original Superman trilogy)
4) Will Smith (Agent J from the smash action flick Men In Black and Men In Black II)
and
5) Catherine Zeta-Jones! (babe)
With references like this, 313 couldn't have picked a better day to launch.

Erm... I'll only be on-air tonight, sorry. So I'm not moonlightling or anything.
Okay.... script should be correct... here.... was just wondering... are we planning cameos of ourselves or anyone we know? It should add some humour to an otherwise dreary script.
BTW, Chong (yes, I know you won't read this for a while), UT 2003 demo is out. Check it out here.
I'd go with your new coloring job, Alvin... it's less pretty than the original, but I guess it fits better with the kind of story we're doing. Ah well.

hmz. I changed the hair.. to the current best of my abilities. I was wondering what on earth the hair colour was, tried to msg you, Pete, and then my phone batt died... anyway...
And I darkend it to blue. Hope it's better. I dunno. Choose one, make one need for change it, and that's that.
Pete! you're moonlighting! How come you're so lucky... sigh... well, enjoy yourself then. Hope you play good music. Which reminds me about birthday music! Hmz... let's open 313 on the next birthday for us! How about april 02 2003? J/k. However. Wwl. Are you prepared? Pete? Me? I'm kinda ok with it.
For photo of people lying on each other... don't ask me. I don't have any. Nope. not at all.
WWL: very nice first try! Can't really fault the colouring since i'm some noobie, however... face looks very good, but somehow not fitting. I can't place it.

Agreed. Do you have time to be permanent colourist, Alvin? It really accents Wailiong's art... Though I do agree that Ben has just turned into a gringo. Don't sue me, but I've never liked having a white man for a main character. And yes, Lydia is cheena, all of her (I've decided not to gush too much about her yet).
I'm planning to open THoR this week, on my birthday, but it's okay if 313 doesn't open yet, altho' dragnier from the forums seems to be anxiously anticipating the first comic..... hooooooo boy.
Script will be up when I say so, sorry... It's difficult to have time to just sit down and brainstorm. But yes, skeletal plot is confirmed, so script should follow soon.
Still don't understand your antipathy towards faces. Your faces look like faces. Your characters all have unique faces. What more could anyone ask for? BTW, sword guy cool!

ok. here's what not to do when at home after a long tiring weekend with barely any rest, and with ISO breathing down your neck.
not to: go home, sit down in front of com, and zonk out thinking what to do.
not to: then decide that panelling the next strip would be boring even tho you'd be staying in the next 2 days to catch the good shows that are ending.
not to:
do this cos you're bored. cos it's inane, and not meant to be.
cos in then end, you tried to rush it, and it now looks like some sort of kids painting.
cos in the end, someone with the skill of a kid painted it.
and in the end, what could you expect?
sigh.

23% geek? Wow.
Pete: I thought you finished plotting everything! That was the impression I got! Oh well. WWE type plot is ok, unless you're talking about the plots you yourself were dissing. Be careful. Anyway I thought you already had a beginning and an end in mind...right? Cos or else how are you gonna plot it to about 52 pages?
Wai: For page 4... did you rush the pics?
in 4b, lydia's head is a little big, and ben looks a little odd... actually i was thinking that in the flashback he was cleancut and stuff, until he became garou. bg people nondescript I guess...
4c, the 2 face thing... as much as i'd agree it's very manga, it's one thing that rarely occurs in western comics, and also, you realise that his second face does not connect to his neck exactly, to do so, you'd have to extend his neck. Get what I mean? Maybe it'd have worked better if you did the main pic without the split, then do a smaller pic where it's "zoomed" into Ben's look upwards. get what i mean? it kinda looks like he's wearing a mask actually.
Ok, going for doooty tomorrow. Very shagged now. Gd nite. Sorry if I ask too many questions. Call me the incessant fly who bugs.

The pics work great, Wai... although I have trouble reconciling the one (313004c) where Ben's head is in two places at once. I know what you intend to portray, but that just looks like a 2-headed Cerberus (couldn't resist the doggy joke).
Oh yes, and in the middle of plotting the whole (yes, you heard me) story, I've decided to come up with a major fiend character. Now I don't want any publicity on her because naturally, it's supposed to be the climax of the comic... where she reveals herself to be not only the vampire leader, but also Dirge's sire and (and here's the wonderful twist) Joshua's estranged daughter.
Talk about a WWE-type plot.

they're EXTREMELY large... thought you were going to colour them? they look fine... just wondering tho. Is there a light source in the church? if not then it's ok... cos then even tho it's raining really heavily outside, the lampost at the doorway should serve as sufficient light to illuminate inwards at the door.
hmz... or are the next 2 pages gonna be shaded? then you keep trying diff styles? cos it may offer some unrest for the viewers, but I think I can explain it away. You could have posted them as links actually. oh well.
you know taichi? I know kungfu!
yeah, last 2 files are spoilt.
x tv series part 1: $44
x tv series part 2: $44
x the movie: $28= $116... x 95% =$110.20
trigun =$90
$90+$116= $206 x 95%= $195.70
so it works out... ok?
i've removed the honour bubble anyway, and I think if I have the time i'll reduce to 12 or 13 or 11.

Wwl: Calm down. You gotta pay for services, and the ANIME!! $110.20 please.
Okie dokie. As for pic, your legs look a little odd, something about his hips and groin, but your face is good. However, it _is_ a straight on look, so I won't expect anything less.
I can do the panelling, however, that means i'd like the scripts and art (painted) to come in as fast as possible so I can get cracking on it while I still can, as ISO looms, and I got so burnt out already.
so... back to work guys. The server is now nice and fast (faster), so there shouldn't be any worries on that part. I'm aiming to release the very first comic next week, or by the first week of october LATEST... how about you guys?

Name credits cos you write. I think my title shall change to idiot running around.
wwl: then please start colouring, people have been really hankering to see something up, and I will not post something unless you've got enough backup. I really don't wanna see any Pantsu Chongs.
Shade and colour... i'll piece it together if you really need me too, but I think you're fine with it... I was just playing around, on a whim kinda thing. Pete has to write dialogue, and more PAGES!!! we've ran out of pages!!!
Speech bubble... I used a big one, with a small honour font, cos that way it would kinda "highlight" the spittiness... maybe I did it wrong. Kinda like said under his tired breath.
I think I shall reduce the font sizes a bit more, they feel a little big. agree? from 14 to either 12 or 10.
btw, all the text on the b/w pages, they are not meant to be there... just something like an idea. why do you guys think that's the finished product? same way my silly version of page 2, without the proper boxes... it's all a kinda preview, temporary thing.
I HATE BRANDON PETERSON. His hair is too curly.
WWL: I have passed you painter 7 ALREADY!!!! Can't you remember??? We installed painter classic cos you said it was OK... it's on the cd I passed you a long time ago, and yes, this one works. I tested. I'm not sure if there're layers tho.
wha'ts with the megatokyo thing? i don't get it.
i created a stripcreator account, and decided i got nothing to write. oh well. as for your tablet... nothing much to do with me, but I guess, there you go, a treasure trove (albeit a small one) of information...

I'm tired and really need to sleep.
short comments: too wordy, well, that's really up to you. the other 2 were my suggestions, but they were kinda jokes in a sense, therefore no boxes or outlines. kinda drafts too. second version vague, cos if you realise, I just summarised the page, i have no idea what else is going on anyway. right pete? nah, joking.
let's get commercialised, but let's get a fanbase too. i've got a dirge pic with less blank black space, but i guess we'll stick to the old one.
Honour has been removed (??), but I wanted to use white, cos that's how people speak. check out warlands. it works. coloured text boxes, white dialogue. well, maybe not here I guess.

You know what? Yes, it is too wordy... I'm trying to be Claremont. I think the speech bubble spoils the effect, now. If it can't be taken out, then no matter... I just hope my bad script doesn't hurt the overall standard of the comic.
Alvin's second version seems to work... though albeit too vague, even by my standards.
Third one should never be published... not even as "fan-art".
Glad to hear you've got your l33t comp up and running, Wai... Booya-dude looks excellent! Congrats on finding a workable art style!
The Buffy game looks promising, although the 3d horror genre has been done to death with Alone in the Dark (which I've completed, I'm proud to say).

1) Project Ego
2) Knights of the Old Republic (which will also come out on pc I think, so not much there)
3) Nice game from show I hardly watched...
3.5) If this won't make you want to play it... i don't know what will... Hey! Even the nose is correct.

and an actual cool effect....

Argh... Seximan won't appear because my camp comp disallows any pics or pages with the word "sex" in them. Bah.
I pick first one too... White on Black looks too much like webpage background. And I'll be on retreat this weekend, so no comp shopping for me... though I'd give it priority over anything else.
You know what, Wai? You are genius. (The more I do this, the more I get the impression that my opinion matters less). Oh well. I tell the truth when I see it.
The pic of Ben entering the room is so similar to a cruicified Christ it almost seems as though you had a higher purpose for doing the pic. Good job on the perspective too.
I can't decide which page I prefer... although my initial reaction was that your first draft was better, with the exception of the top panel. Don't agree with Chong that having the faces look alike will have the better effect. I thought the first draft with the face on the left gives a better impression that he's seeing the girl. That's my interpretation of it anyway.
We can use Wai's "looking-into" pic later, because in that pic, Ben has a more serene expression. Perhaps use it as a cliffhanger, or a finale?
This is Page 3. of 52. Oh boy.
EDIT: Argh! Just found out KS has made *shudders* wallpaper of my class outing last night... it's all here...

Well, I've got a few things to say, from a purely anal point of view. That is, I'm looking through my ass. And it's kinda hairy over there.
Anyway...
Fantastic rendering of emotions now, a pity that you cut out your entire perspective pic, only to leave the feet. Are you gonna use that pic somewhere?
Now, for the grouses, for I believe that it's time to (kinda) stop praising, and try nitpicking so as to continue to improve you. does that make sense? Smack me if it doesn't. The world needs a little tough love, and I'm doling it out to the people who are buying new computers. pete: come along on friday! tomorrow! or saturday!
One eyes only view stacked over another. the only problem is, this page is almost a silent page, emoting emotion via body language. there's really not much to be said. So it'd help if the two eyes almost mirror each other, instead of having one more to the left than the other.... get what I mean? That way, it truly translates into what you may call a change in emotion without having to figure out jack schitt.
As for the girl. I realise you're trying to show a difference between her and lydia long by having her have glasses. But other wise they look totally the same, especially uncoloured. A few things you can do to help create impact is by
a) changing the girl slightly more.
b) have the zooming effect. from a girl far away (use the same pic, just further away, amongst the chairs), then have her morph as Ben is trying to focus on her, and it hits him as he focuses, and sees Lydia.
And the line seperators.... too... fixed. you may either want to try a fluid form of placement (check out all the image stuff)... basically, fixing the guidelines as such... may screw up reading the comic. does the reader go from angry--> girl ---> eyes wide shut
or
angry---> my whites are showing --> girl?
cos we read from left to right, and yet the girl spans 2 "rows"
get what I mean? but the bottom one works, cos the leftmost pic takes up the entire space, and we naturally move to the right, topmost pic, then down.
i'm being niggly, take it all with a pinch of salt.
so... i take it this is page...3? or four? there was a previous page looking into a cathedral, not using that anymore? maybe you wanna have him open the doors, looking into the chapel, schting, and then come to looking at the girl.
ignore the schting.
I WILL UPDATE TONIGHT!!!! MUST TRY!!!!! GAHHHHH!!!!

And the Ghost Cat comic is cute, and it's in the same vein as the original comic I had in mind (which, if you don't mind, I'm going to copyright and make my own).

Paiseh should have elaborated... Chuck Austen, writer (U.S. War Machine, Uncanny X-Men) and artist (Elektra, U.S. War Machine). Average writer... really *different-style* artist. can't really show you what I mean...

Gee... I don't know if you're amused, mortified, or downright pissed. Ah, the wonders of technology.
Heh... En will be going drawing with KS this coming Sunday. I'll be playing the flowerpot at her request. Getting a birthday treat in exchange. You can look for her then. I'll give details when I get it.
Chong gets more hits because everybody's wondering when he'll update.... you get less hits because everyone visits you regularly... I hope. I know I do, at least. Who visits me? Heh... BTW, is your melancholeric email your new one? Or is it just something for outsiders?
I wanna get a super-comp too. Wanna play NWN and Freedom Force. But I realise if I do, I will never finish the comic, so I'll hold up. I'm slowing us all down, anyway.
Visit the forums... the only reason I don't feel left out is because I'm continuing my mod shit that I began on the intranet. And people look at me as the definitive mod, anyway, so I'm happy.
You could start a "l33t comp" project thing, you know... Sell your services... Do commissioned artwork. Charge low rates. Sign if requested. It works, trust me. All artists do it... it's a sideline which doesn't require them to sell their souls to make money, though that is debatable.

Sorry... never got to use Internet over weekend.
Agree with Wailiong. Too much blank space at top-left corner unhealthy. Assymetry good, but not always. My suggestion? Put name in slightly different font, and put it higher up. Name can be bigger and take up two lines.
News on front... well, it's been a long week, but I'm feeling much better, and hopefully my weekend retreat will give me the inspiration I need to really drive the story on. But for now, give me till tomorrow for the rest of Ben's flashback.
WL: Emi-chan's CG looks great. Congrats! You've officially broken into the MT forums supremo-artists clique.
En says our site looks fine. Can't quote her exact words, but suffice to say, she seems impressed. She's on the forums as astronaut. I'd really appreciate it if neither of you publicly draw attention to her gender, as I wouldn't trust people like coates as far as I can throw him online.

yo.... i've been slacking thanks to chobits and neverwinter nights,
but since there's not much news on the front, i'm relaxing.
however, will post up wwl's wallpaper and my own edit at a downloads site, hopefully by wednesday or thursday.
will upload the dirge pic, since I can't figure out what to do with it anymore, and moving the text doesn't really work, and since pete has no comments.
That'll be it then. update coming up. ...must...stop...playing...NWN....
