Like the new page, WL! Especially since the link to me makes more sense than before. =P

Do NOT have grudging admiration for sick, demented, artist boy! Stick with fun happy socialite non-goth lydia! Be one with the drawings.....
Although I do like the "Does this make me look fat" pic... reproduced here for your pleasure.

WL: I love it... there's even the Archie Comics trademark of a general, non-descript girl with large assets. The detail you put into the picture is much appreciated. I feel I'm on Ben Grimm's Yancy Street. Good job, bro!
Like Alvin said, non-edgy is refreshing. Let's stick to that. Let's do World of Darkness without the Darkness. DC Comics without Batman. Marvel without the Knights. WWE without the Undertaker. Me without my sanity. Wooot!
BTW, if you are changing the pic (as you said you would) please do inform me beforehand (like you did), because I intend to mould the story around your pic... so I'll need the concrete picture to work with. Take for example my Ben, "panting and sweating"... nope... don't see it. But nothing wrong with that, yeah?
Chapter One
Ben
Lying in my sweat drying my tears,
Waiting for you...I am...
Making me feel like I don't care
I don't care!
-Situation, Godsmack
The stairway to heaven has two paths, or so the song goes. I believe I'm on the right path, but then why do I feel so lost? If everything I do goes against my conscience, how can it all be for the greater good? If a most respected and revered leader tells you to be selfless, and forthcoming, why does it still feel so wrong?
Honour.
The elders impressed on us many facets of their wisdom, as was their duty. These revolved around one main ideal: that guarding the defenceless was a task to be embraced willingly, not shunned. For having been gifted with powers above any mortal, it was only right that we use said power responsibly, as expected of our people. Peter Parker isn't the only one with that particular mantra, all of us "super-heroes" have it.
Superhero.
I snigger despite the building tension within me. Ah, such is the naïveté of a young man, weened on stupendous personas such as Wolverine and the Beast. Thinking that if I had their powers, things could have been different. Foolishness, all of it. It began to drizzle slightly as I stopped, panting and sweating like never before. The rain formed a harshly cold dichotomy with the heat my body was giving off, and I shivered, for the first time in many months. Resisting the urge to warm myself up naturally, I chose instead to seek asylum within the building looming starboard, the Church of Mary Magdalene.
Dammit, God. I couldn't save her, just like I couldn't save them.

erm. whether it's a webomic or a illustrated novel is up to you guys I guess... and especially the artist. I just keep thinking along both lines, so I confuse myself. Sorry.

Okay guys... I think we need to set something straight. Do you, or do you not want a webcomic? Or were you referring instead to something a la Marvel dotComic?
Because at the moment I'm writing with an illustrated novel, not Ross/Dini's War on Crime.

insulted work? where?
wwl: believe i have commented on your page, will leave it as that.
pete: nuwisha nuwaisha...... okok nuwisha right? Now when you add comic book character spiderman it sounds too wordy. I dunno. Once again, what's the setting? earth now? earth x? middle earth? distant future? dystopian future? days of future past? long long time ago? jurassic park? another planet?
sorry.
now for the story. it kinda feels... something more common these days, but since comics these days are trying to get more edgy, this is almost refreshing. and it always leaves it open. so cliche is good for a start.
not sure who wwl is aiming the advice at. some parts sound cool, but don't see where it'll fit as yet. will there be a yoda?
you guys should read Jonathan Carroll, now that's full of advice for you. and it's FUCKING good. pardon the swearing.
still, good stuff to be had by all. and the public preview of 313.com is up.

LOOM!!!! And btw, it's spelt Nuwisha. You know, the more I look at Lydia, the more I've fallen in love with her... sheznit. Thank goodness all I need to do is see what she could have looked like and feel so much better. heh.
I'm going to keep posting and deleting previous versions of the story, so you more or less know how the story runs.
posted by Petey at 7/28/2002 08:11:00 PM
Oh, did I tell anybody that I found Loom, the CD VERSION??? WITH FULL SOUND??? I mean... how cool is that???
posted by direcow at 7/28/2002 06:56:00 AM
lydia need not be really goth... but more socialite and cool (as in cold, composed) is my idea.
Now!!! Reviews on the first writing!!!
i'm not steeped in garou mythology, in fact, I can spell nuwaisha, and that's about it. Did i even spell it right?
So... it appears that we are setting this within the real world, and not a world on it's own (unless it's the marvel universe). It's a little texty, but that's if it's a webcomic, and not a graphic novel. Cos with pictures, you don't have to say "building on my left"... but still, we can always afford stronger words until the art gets fantastic.
he seems to identify with being a superhero, and one thing for sure, someone who does goot... is that really what he is? I would actually expect that someone like him would only fight when in a corner, but people hunt for him for what he has done before, not what he just did like save the grandauntie from robbers... someone like him that would keep within the shadows, and stay silent, until flushed out like poop in a bowl. Forgive the metaphor, and at any rate, that's just what I feel, just bouncing ideas off.
web page is forming up real well, but doesn't look much diff from the one i showed you guys the last time.

okok.... btw, that was pete's intro, not his prequel to suicide.
one thing.... after outlining, it looks even more awesome... to say i'm in awe is to say the obvious, cos awesome and awe are inextricably linked.
as for the second version... well, I actually imagined Lydia to be a cool goth sophisticate, not a mixture with blink182... but it may just be my imagination.
that's up to you guys as usual, just my usual donation. *takes step back*

1. nice pic, but try to make her more goth. colour nevermind, but eyes window to soul. she too cute, which nice, but wrong.
2. pete: try to write first, then mould style, not copy. wwl found style after much trying, guys not so much anime animore.
3. blog ok to all. personal ok. but when asked, no say read my blog. take time to discuss. but if person refuses to tell after all that typing, don't force it either. anyway blog too much words hard to read. no offense to anyone.

Agree with Chong... WL: You're amazing, considering you're the on beset with NDP preps and not us (Kill me if I'm wrong, Chong). Joshua Cross is a HELL lot better than I could have ever imagined him. I do recall seeing the picture for the first time and thinking: That's it! That's the perfect image of Cross, Dimensional Vigilante. I do think I finally have what I need to begin a good work, but I'm currently swamped by backlog work that I skipped doing. Bah.
I've updated the pics for the Avengers test, but I find my little captions lacking... ah well, I can't expect you guys to come up with everything right? I'll try to think of something spiffier.
Check out our main page designed by Chong, who apparently is able to create a coupla works of art despite everything. Wooot! Nice work there, bro.
Sidenote: WL, weren't you the one worried about me displaying my life on the Web? Your latest blog sounds great though... must have been really inspired.
Anywayz, I will try to get something done... However, I just read Alex Ross' Batman: War on Crime, and I'm in the mood for more pics, less words (but WL will kill me).
(Don't mind me extra bitchy multiple personalities today. Yesterday, he thought he was God. Bah)

ok.
i believe that the pics for the avengers quiz would be best left to peter to comment on, BUT!
scarlet witch: try using a more contrasting font, or make it duo colour, so that the words stand out more, like
black panther: which works
and kinda like thor too.
don't really like dead pool's font, but that's me being anal and unable to shit properly
cap has the wrong crest, and i'm being a stickler.
i like iron man, but i like black panther better
of all your bajoreans, the last one looks the best. and which is why i'm guesssing you chose it for your site. see you tried diff textures and all, GOOT JOB!
I cannot stop praising your endeavours in this time of national day oncomingness.
as for Ben Howls, i like his pose and all, but i guess you're rite when you say his right arm is wrong. (HAHA!)
otherwise, works good, and gave me food to work with.
and now, as for cross.
this is why I say you do non bishi better.
if you keep at this, I believe you've found your style. this is fantastic. i'm not sure how long you took to do this, but other than the pant legs, I cannot fault this at all. It doesn't need to be coloured to speak volumes. Once again, kudos.
The pant legs fold funny.
Posture is neat, lines are very neat, and musculature and physical attributes and RUTHLESS AGRESSION work. Good job once again.
and thanks for the good reviews of my site, but looking at the oncomign deadline, it may have to be delayed.... ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys guys guys...
I click post and PUBLISH for about 3 hours yesterday and they kept telling me about a template error. So I decided to just let you guys publish it for me, which worked...
Tell en that three-thirteen is a very squishy name, and we'd all like her on board.
Ok, since all pics are vetoed, I've decided to do version 3.5a of 313.com. Here goes nothing.
pete: how about i leave it somewhere accessible, and then you stop by my place and pick it up even when i'm not around? i'm talking about win98 tho.
asylum didn't charge me any money for membership, auto convert from derek. I hope i'm not cursing every comic shop i go to, but this may mean that we may miss the following:
Spidey black cat
Transformers #4
Transformers Armada #1
Battle of the Planets #1
amongst others.
As for the webcomic, i think i'll just post up some of wwl's concept sketches. do you mind wwl?
WWL! Use html, not bulletin board/forum codes.
it's opensharpbracket img src="blahblah.jpg" closesharpbracket
not the squarey ones.
see you guys around. i thought of a very nice domain name yesterday night, but it's really too late innit?

Okay guys... you have got to remember to Post & Publish. That way, I just need to visit 313.blogspot.com once, and that's it. Instead of having to log on to Blogger.com, and then check if you guys have posted anything. No matter, it seems we're all on the 313 ball now. Even En is asking about it, though she's not too keen on having three-thirteen.com as a domain... go figure.
First things first:
Chong, I dunno why you got Cap... maybe because you fit my impression of Cap... maybe because the quiz is so poorly done it's easier to get Cap than any other Avenger. Maybe I suck. Yeah, that's probably it.
The third pic with Angela REALLY freaks me out. Wonder if I'm alone in that... =) I choose none. I rather we have a solitary design rather than mesh our individualities together (I'm identifying with the Garou, BTW). What's wrong with the 313 Lightning Hand?
Miravi is really cool. Wish I didn't get caught in camp though... heh... =) No, I'm kidding... I'm smart enough to recognise a nude art gallery when I see one.
Easter Egg: I told WL that his bishi buckles looked like the word "HI". So if you notice, within each buckle are the letters "B" "y" "e". Corny, huh?
My site is ready to go as and when you want. It would be nice to get my home comp back so I get use WS_FTP instead of the built-in FTP program in Windows. Yes, Chong, me still want CD, if you've found yours.
Asylum's down? Ack. Hopefully they didn't cheat you out of your membership money...
Main 313 page most important now, me feels. However, webcomic might take a backseat depending. I've got quite a lot of priorities to work around nowadays.
What other Easter Eggs?
I don't get invited out to draw either. I get invited to watch the three of them draw. It's really silly and I end up being very distracting. My fault. I suck. Manga's just not my thing.
Take your time with the pics. No one else knows about the Avengers test except you guys and a couple of my colleagues. It was a rather rushed job, so I don't feel particularly satisfied with it.
WL's html? he keeps on using [image] tags instead of img src=""
WL: I say keep both... who's going to complain, anyway? =)

MIRAVI MIRAVI MIRAVI!!!!!!!!!
goodmorningqueen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*ahem*
chong is now alive, but once alive, is sick. Chong came yesterday, but no see update, very strangely. Sigh sigh.
What's the easter egg? Somebody please tell me......
The bishi one: It's looks more like a bishoujo then a bishounen.... really. Considering bishi basically connotates pretty.... aiee.
As said: I'm aiming for an august start to me proper site, you guys just find some deadline to decide whether it;s all go, or not.
Spidey blackcat comic: will try to get my hands on it tomorrow, but since asylum has shut it's doors temporarily, things look bleak. G&B. Here I come!!!!!!!!!!
Chong working on main 313 page, and doing absolutely nothing else other than some surfing. No amv, no direcow.cow. NO colouring. Will leave that to good ole wwl with his cell shading. belly goot.
MORE EASTER EGGS??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
sigh. nobody ever invites me out to draw.
wwl> you finished your second amv?
for me: proities= finish 313 main site, hopefully with a webcomic to grace it. then work on promoting our forums. Then bust bandwidth.
Would do some nice piccies for you pete.... will august be fine? wwl, you can always add a flare to any pic of capam you know.
what's wrong with wwl's html?
pete: win98. you want?
posted by direcow at 7/17/2002 07:45:00 AM
You have really got to learn how HTML is done, WL... Dreamweaver is teaching you the wrong stuff, hehheh.... But it's okay.
Love the Cap pic... except that it has the SHIELD eagle emblem on his forehead, so you know it's from Heroes Reborn. Nothing wrong with that, but a die-hard Cap fan (not me) might take offence at it.
The Deadpool one's from the ad for his new ongoing series from 1998. Recognised it immediately. Must admit... rather hard to see his name, though.
I love them both. Woot!

My goodness! Got this from Tessa Wong's blog. It's Para Para Spidey!
I see it but I DON'T believe it. This just goes to prove that Para Para can make even Spider-man look gay.

WWL: Your comments, as always, are much appreciated. I did do an anti-hero... if you realised... and I also included an easter egg in there, if you bother to look for it. I thought Henry Pym really suited me too, but as the creator of the test, I ended up with Cap (D'UH!) more often than not. Actually, I was really hoping you or Chong could help me "properly spiff up" the test. You two are definitely more graphically inclined than I am. Care to design your own? Then upload it to your server and I'll link to it. Thanks. BTW, comments on my blog are always welcome, though sometimes I wonder how often people share my interests.
Comments: I like the bishi one better. Heh... maybe because I saw you spend more time on it. Sketch10 was (to me) pure unbridled creative genius done in under two hours. And I hate androgynous people, but bishi good. bishi bishi bishi.
Did I ask why you didn't give the comic a detailed going over? Must have been subconcious... don't remember it. Sorry. Didn't mean it that way. I did realise yesterday that my concept of sketching was totally unfair and underrating. My apologies. I guess seeing you, KS and En just churn out sketches like no one's business got to me. Ah well. Truth is: I don't really care how long you take. I don't care whether you think it's bad or good. I don't even care whether you think it's appropriate for whatever I write. Because I intend to base my characters very much on how you draw them, so it's almost a symbiotic relationship, yeah?
Chong: If you're free (apart from whatever AMV you have in mind at the moment), and besides helping me re-design the Avengers poll, think you could try your hand at colouring some of WL's sketches? That is, if you still have any time left after doing all you have to do.

Can't comment without a computer. My Windows registry is apparently screwed and I can't load Bill's little toy no more. All blogging and stuff to be done from workplace.
Sketches good. Ben looks excellent. Battle scars a nice touch. Chong is right. He isn't dumb, but I never thought of giving him a scar across his throat. Greatest honor/glory/shame for a Galliard. Sketch 7 is Mr Cross, I'm guessing. He doesn't have to be black. I just thought the idea of a white vampire hunter was simply done to death, although ironically, when I first conceptualised Joshua, he was white.
As requested... Dru pic:
P.S. Avengers test just that... a test. If you wanna incorporate it in, be my guest to edit the html to suit the main page.

oh, and one more thing... wwl, for poses, you may want to get something called poser by metacreations. it's a 3d prog for poses, and basically you move the limbs around, and it's all almost 100% biological. should help.
you can get raisins too.
posted by direcow at 7/06/2002 10:34:00 PM
OK.... from what i've read, things are moving rather sweetly i guess, and hopefully we can move up a gear (or 5) after NDP.
here's a few things:
Pete: Avengers personality test working real fine... just one thing: will you be hosting it on the main site or yours? if it's on the main site, we'll have to edit the html so that the colurs etc coordinates. and yeah, try more colour.
WwL: For the preacher/punisher guy... how about the "priest" guy from hellsing? the one with spades? Heh heh heh.
since pete said ben's not dumb... how come you made him permanantly dumb? but could use that as a good plot device I guess.
Both: Since peter has managed to come up with some idea from a wwl inspiration, let's see how far this can go. at any rate wwl, do you want this to be coloured? that would push things back a bit, cos colouring does take time, as much as the aesthetics rule and all. We don't have to actually use anything from white wolf, instead, it can be an adaptation. all in all, it is our own world they are living in, and we don't have to use exact names like malkavian or even stick to their rules... if you get my drift. Remember, you all are the ones who rped or read these things the most, not me. For now, i'll definitly be just along for the ride.
but one thing's for sure. I've set up the forum if you all have seen the link below, if not, it's at http://forums.three-thirteen.com
it's now using phpBB, which is more powerful, but in a sense, it sure isn't vBulletin. At any rate i've modded the style a bit for colour, and i've also ported all your old info over from xmb including threads and such. the xmb board can now be considered closed. in about one month I hope to have opened this forum fully, right now it's still waiting for a confirmation on all the threads and catagories.
pete: how much should i stick to the mindef forums? i know i won't be having nsf discussions there for sure. Anndy lin said we should include as much as possible. What's your call? At any rate i'll be catagorising the forums in my own way. one thing more is that i feel that too many cats will make the forum overloaded... as in too much information. hmz...
ah'll alsho be setting up our mainpage very soon, will do a third revamp. will be using php, so that serving our webcomic/illustrated novel will be much easier. will get back to you guys on this as soon as possible.
all the best.
oh, and one more thing, don't like the use of gomen.... and now i know why. why? cos it's disrespectful, especially to people you don't really know. gomenasai sounds a lot longer, but softer too... gomen sounds very heck care, kinda like saying sorry to a bug you just squashed with your nose in the air.
but that's just me.

Take your time... no hurry, yeah? I didn't really want to give tribes and all that, because I'm afraid of copyright infringement... they're all white, supposedly, but to be politically correct, Ben is Native American, Joshua is Black, Dirge is Germanic and Lydia is Chinese/Korean. See what you can do.
Ben isn't dumb. He's just really REALLY shocked. Joshua doesn't have to look like a holy man. Just give him the requisite crucifix, holy water vial, holy book and any other charms/items you think Vampire Slayers use... (note: he is NOT Buffy). Dirge is a young man, younger than he looks. He's cocky and arrogant, but young (mid 20s?). Don't make him look like some conglomerate co-owner, but rather an up and coming executive. Abominations don't look any different from a normal Garou, unless his/her sire was a Nosferatu, in which case then he/she looks no different than any other Nossie (which, to some, can be really tough). My guess is, think Oz (in almost wolf form) on steroids... hope you get the pic...

Had a Klingon renewal these few days... hopefully my comp gets back up so I can work out a Klingon side to it. Storywriting for Wailiong underway, will be using a couple of characters I created over the place... no werewolves as requested, although all of them are Garou, they will almost never Change.... and you'll find out why later. A few character synopsis to get your artistic talent underway.
Ben Howls-In-Silence was an easy-going passive man who has gone through a series of conflicts. His life was turned upside down by his First Change, and then even further when he realises he is required to give up all he holds dear when he joins the Garou Nation, including the city-life and his friends, and now, he learns of his curse when a territorial Leech kills his foster parents and Embraces his girlfriend. Now he just stares blankly at Luna during the night, his baritone voice silenced by his fate.
Joshua Cross is a former vampire hunter who suddenly believes that all members of the World of Darkness should be hunted down. Think of him as the WOD's answer to the Punisher. Cross is a God-fearing man, who is convinced that it is his holy duty to rid the world of demons in all shapes and forms. He is everyone's worst nightmare, and lately, he seems to have set his telescopic sights on a marauding werewolf, but when will the hunter become the hunted?
Lydia Long is a 13th Generation Toreador. Petite and beautiful, she slithers through the night she loves, totally lost to the world around her. Even before her recent Embrace, she was a strikingly sensual creature, who loved goth fashion and worshipped Brandon Lee as the Crow. Not many noticed any change after the Embrace, because it didn't alter her appearance much. But her ex-boyfriend Ben did, and now she finds herself torn between her Sire and him.
Dirge Vain-Glory was the alpha male wannabe of Ben's sept, the Voice of Gaia. He was a proud Shadow Lord Galliard, full of himself and ready to impress. The fact that he was exceptional and knew it, just made it worse. Then one day, a Toreador Leech heard his voice and decided he made a good watchdog, so she hunted him down, and Embraced him. Disgusted by his resultant tormented looks, she discarded him, but the Abomination Thanatos still prowls the street, and Gaia help all those in his way.
