Was sick on friday. Fever (38.1, regular at office 35.9, home 36.2), muscle aches. Not much appetite, nearly puked but decided that keeping my food in was a much more rewarding experience then being reminded what upchucking was all about all over again. That and diarrhea (how do you spell this again) at intermitten periods. Kinda like periods... you know... crampy and stuff. Not that I'd know the true pain. No uterus, no talk, as some may say.

It is either
a) excessive cycling
b) excessive chin-chow
c) macdonalds
d) gelato
e) accumulated effluence de chalet
f) something or other entirely not coincidental like a kiss.

that being said, my stomach still feels funny, as does my achy breaky neck.

---------------------

was un-therefore under impression that wwl did not go to mel's cos of grace stuff. Pete did go, tho, right?

http://peterlin.three-thirteen.com/script.txt

the script has always been there. if you can't access it I still keep a copy on me hdd. don't you?

WWL: I have, for your perusal, downloaded Painter 7 and the update. Would you like to try?

do note that painter 7 still is of the "mating" brand: i.e. procreate. Perhaps it's prediliction for procreation has led to the destruction of your water colouration?
at any rate, the update might be worth a shot or 2.

Personally I think the graphics on Monkey Island II suck. And the voice acting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This _might_ be why having comments ain't such a bright idea. heh heh.

WWL: guess not starting with SOS yet? I think with Fan Mail...we should... you know... start again.. before the fan(s) forget.

I guess, ergo, that therefore, sum, that we keep at SOS if we can. Sure, maybe plan other projects, but since we' ve already done SOS on reams of paper (blah blah), there's that much more to get a person interested than something new from scratch. Also, Pete, would you like to take a closer look at the EPIC thing as fluffy as it might sound? WWL?

WWL: I think that somewhat long "hiatus" while waiting to start to clear leave in the midst of the SARS situation kinda slowed you down and maybe even put you a few steps behind. Esp in faces. Somehow your faces seem screwy now, esp from what we can see from the last few. This newest guy, unless he's chewing gum on one side, looks like he has a dislocated jaw that needs fixing. And unless he's leaning back or something (very far back) his thighs look very large. Also, no feet. Your blade is crooked, but with the sole exception of a somewhat large looking right thumb, your hands are great. I'm not sure a collar bone looks so obvious, especially since it'll most likely show only in spandex, and with someone of his clothing style... spandex ain't out yet right? Neck also looking rather long and fat, and yes thin at the same time. I think it's where the jaw is connecting. You could possible widen the shadow under his right breast side of tunic, cos otherwise he also somewhat looks fat. For an elf, that's not too good and idea, all that fatness.

And I'm unsure what that background even is. -- end of comments by non artist.

What's pure hilarity?

Niobe and Persephone did kiss in the game, with probably more tongue than that... so.... if you really wanted to see that you'd get the game.

---- so... are people interested in the SOS premise?

pete, you still writing SOS?

"Bill, dude, you won't believe the bitchin' dream I just had..."

Pure hilarity. Good stuff.

Publicity stunt? - http://www.spybabe.net/archives/000984.php

RE: EPIC... I'm worried about the whole concept in the first place. Then again, I hardly think I'm even close to ready for the big time... HAHAHAHA... I was reading Bill Jemas' guidelines and one said - "And how's this for strange? New writers who bring their entirely new characters and universes to be published as creator-owned properties also fall into this trap. They expend huge mental energy building their own universes in their minds, on index cards and on reams of typed paper. Then they pick some point in time and space, smack in the middle of their new universe, and start telling the story right there. These pitches generally start with an unidentified character on a mysterious mission, the nature and meaning of which is "to be revealed." What they don't do is give us a reason why we should care enough and keep reading long enough to find out."

All you need to do is check out my current ongoing series at MV1, Dragons of the East... and see how nicely I fall into this trap.

WWL: Do read.
Pete: what i mentioned earlier.

Also, Weird Al Yankovic has released a new album! Titled Poodle hat, it is seriously hilarious and I believe better than Running with Scissors. Time to go buy.

Hello,

I was introduced by a friend to check your site out. I was amazed by your work, really. I liked the 'bleached' effect you maintained in your comic that exudes a permenant sense of surreality and melancholy so prominent in the story.

Your character Ben Howls looked kinda odd initially, but i was real glad he looked much better afterwards. Really moved by the pulses you infused into the work.

Look forward to the next page, don't keep your readers hanging by the thread!

FAN MAIL!!!!! if you need the email tell me. i'll try to formulate a response.

I saw Ghost Master in the shops, or what I think is Ghost Master.. gonna buy it and try it out...

and thought nobody read me posts... then again, maybe i talk too much.

You're right... Ghost Master and Evil Genius look to be as cool as hell. =)

and yes, FHM sucks. I no longer have faith in it, inasmuch as I did have some (enough to read it on the stands).

Pete: Capt America is US$2.99 right? That's S$5.10
Domino: US$2.50 = S$4.30
Exiles: US$2.99 = S$5.10
same for Elektra.

Total = S$20.80 with backing boards.
-------------------------------

WWL: Athena Inc (S$8.90) + Robotech (S$5.10) + Blood and Water (S$5.10).

total is $19.40
------------------------------

What's mysterious earth?
-----------------------------

personally, I loved reloaded. it's perfect pseudo-babble or what have you. too much was expected of the CG (seriously overhyped) or that the wachowskis are great thinkers and philosophers. Are they? No. As for the CG i already knew what to expect from the trailer... so i wasn't disappinted.

Nope, I wasn't disappointed at all. Except maybe with the trinity flying down intro. Sibei boring. Otherwise things went ok... it's good old B movie stuff with a A movie budget! how cool is that?

Seriously, if anyone expected the matrix to show them a new world... well... you expect too much. they already did that in part 1. I dunno... maybe my expectations have been dumbed thanks to Marvel Comics and the WWE product. But at any rate, why have any expectations? I personally don't expect anybody to have expectations of me, no matter how promising it may seem.

not that i don't agree with the article. I do in many areas.but it also smacks of someone who had such high hopes, impossible to reach, that in the end, when dashed, is extremely bitter. I mean, sure you can keep watching trailers and reading articles and feeling entirely jazzed up... but what will be the outcome? jadedness and overexpectation. I think a few of us fell prey to this.
i also agree that many parts of it don't make much sense. but can we wait for part 3 to see how?

   Sunday, May 18, 2003
First things first: No, haven't paid. Will do so ASAP. How much is 2 US$2.50 comics with backing boards? I'll just transfer the $39.90 for Superstar first.

Mysterious Earth: Well, yeah, interesting stuff... especially the Grave of Gilgamesh story, but not exactly drop everything and read stuff.

Art: Top one rawks... even without the shading, I think it's the best of the three. The other two... aren't as striking. For some reason. I guess they don't scream "Unique!" somehow. Maybe it's the posture. Maybe it's just me.

Animated GIF... seen it before... funny it took so long to reach you guys.

Caught Reloaded again yesterday - a twist of fate - with my classmates. Enjoyed it much more than the first time, even though I had to visit the toilet half-way through. The story itself is beautiful when you re-read it. The characters are beautiful when you research them: the Merovingian, for example, was the epitome of the occult in the time of the early Christians, ruled by a line of French kings. The trailer for Revolutions makes more sense when you watch it again. Whoever dismisses the movie as a whole lot of balderdash - such as the MSN Slate critic - is looking at Reloaded as a big-budget movie, not as a cult favourite.

Makes you wonder how many critics dismissed Empire Strikes Back as being "as messy and flat-footed as its predecessor is nimble and shapely."

nice... at least the top shaded one is. but the bullets.. one seems to be flat, and with the front one larger than the back one.. is he comparing bullets to see which one will fit better? shoes are around! good, good.

the second guy (let's call him spike) seems to have some sort of eye problem. And his toupee is falling off.

He also seems to adopt a rather general posture that i've seen before... do all your smokers smoke like that?

last person also has a slight shannon doherty-ish eye problem, but other wise seems fine except for a fat left forearm and a skirt? is this a young girl?

i'm thinking something along the lines of urban jungle... but without exactly taking the premise from Grace... and in fact trying to stay away from it. if possible.

if you were online i'd try to discuss it.

one thing tho, don't let those nominations make you have extremely high expectations. seriously.

another thing:

Marvel = WWE.

It has all the good old heroes we love, some up and coming talent. but sometimes the writing just leaves much to be desired, the wrong people are pushed and the wrong people are sacked (people=comics)

DC, however, has a very strong indie fed called Vertigo... very very strong. In fact, Marvel gets some of their talent from there! (talent=people) For example, the Ultimate line editor is actually the guy who used to be head editor for Vertigo. And you know those who jump over and do a few stories for marvel... all because they have all the good old heroes we love.

Marvel, marvel. please shape up.

The Eisner Awards The Oscars of the comics world. (think of the wizard choice awards as like golden globe or emmys or star awards)

three words:

nice.

hmz. it seems third time's the charm eh?

cos... i do recall pushing RTS twice before the most recent one. was it a bug that caught on?

and hey.... me and Maddened (pete should know him) discussed Reloaded for half an hour... add another hour confirming our suspicions (rather, me telling Jamiroquai what i belive and he kinda accepting saying "makes perfect sense")... i think i kinda have the whole thing almost figured out.

Second Renaissance (both parts) - Directed by Mahiro Maeda, who directed Blue Submarine no. 6, and has been involved in Laputa Castle in the Sky, Wings of Honeamise and Neon Genesis Evangelion
Beyond - Directed by Koji Morimoto, who did Robot Carnival and supervised animation on Akira
Final Flight of the Osiris - Directed by not a Japanese dude. The same guy who directed Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
World Record - Takeshi Koike, animator on Ninja Scroll.
Kid's Story - Directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed Cowboy Bebop, Vision of Escaflowne and co-directed Macross Plus. NOT to be confused with Shinichi Watanabe, who directed Excel Saga.
Matriculated - Directed by Peter Chung, writer and director of Aeon Flux (MTV) and did some work on Transformers and Rugrats. Which puts paid to my suspicions that it's american crap, which it is.
Detective Story - Also directed by Shinichiro Watanabe.
Program - Yoshiaki Kawajiri, founder of Madhouse studios, directing Wicked City, Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. What's interesting to note is that Madhouse is the very studio which brought us: Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai, Chobits, Di Gi Charat, Galaxy Angel, Jubei-Chan the Ninja Girl, Metropolis, Ninja Scroll, Patlabor Movie 3, Perfect Blue, Pet Shop of Horrors, Pita Ten, Sakura Wars, Texhnolyze, Vampire Hunter D (both), Wicked City, X movie, X TV and X OVA. Apparently they also animated Millennium Actress and X-Men: Evolutions. He wasn't involved in all tho.

Animatrix is Tuesday evening. As for the timings, Wai Liong has yet to get back to me.

Reloaded is Friday late morn / early afternoon. 1250... ok?

Pantheon is utterly painful. And I think in cinemascope.

Can I check on timings?

Animatrix - Tuesday evening
Reloaded - Friday afternoon?

Pantheon.

Am I the only one experiencing down-time on our domain?

What's up with dH?

Oh, and by the way, see Pantheon for what I DON'T want happening to the new concept.

ok... wwl if you'd put your fave drawings from the previous nights up... i think i have something, but i'd need to look at them again.

it's good that we've got things clear. *phew*

I'm not emulating Saiyuki. I don't even watch it, and if not for En, I wouldn't even know there were 4 people.

I just mentioned Saiyuki because it's parallel to the concept I have now. Bishi story based somewhat on established legend. That's all.

We can make Odin older... but not quite. I just want him to be a part of the group, and not a run-of-the-mill kooky old man.

Angst is relative, I guess. I just want to make sure I have the option open if and when I need to rant via characters.

Characters: Gosh dammit... It looks like I'm still having SoS cold turkey now.... No, Luke and Dirge are not related. But the fact that they're so bloody similar scares me. The "girl" is the one from the church. Heh... don't worry, she's not a main character. I just thought it'd be cool if we had something relating all future stories together... like a 313 trademark.

Capice?

isn't that Dirge Vain-Glory?

what's going on?

hmz... actually that's cool, being in the same universe. just that i'd also like this tale to be independent... such as Daredevil and Spidey. or even better, the inhumans and, say, erm... josh groban.

pete: general idea where this story is going? some sort of sypnosis? and... why saiyuki? it's like... Journey to the West with bishis and guns. right now we're just doing norse myths with bishis.... and... bars. hmz. oh well. Personally i wouldn't look at saiyuki as something to emulate.

wwl: as pete's said, odin's not blind YET. so..... and... perhaps keep general ages?

sigh... angst angst angst. aren't we supposed to be too old for it already? wasn't Nowhere Girl put down instantly as too angsty? why are we doing angst?

but that's just me.

   Tuesday, May 06, 2003
It all seemed like a dream. Events coming fast and furious. Even she couldn't catch up with the pace of things and she used to pride herself on being above it all. What actually happened? How did it all begin? Question after question cascaded through her mind as she tried to relive the past several days. Who was responsible? Why did it happen? Why her? Questions, questions. With no answer, a question was as good as unasked. Yet, she burned to seek out the answer, desperate to seek some catharsis for the crazy times she just experienced. But as hard as she tried, there weren't any answers. Except, perhaps, one name. One person.

"Ben?"

A figure stood at the doorway of the bar. His arms held the door open, and the glare of the street lights outside cast a sharp silhouette against his lanky figure. It couldnt' be, could it? The stance was the same, the pose unmistakeable. It had to be the same man whom she first met several years ago. But yet, it seemed different, somehow. As if the soul had gone out of the boy she knew and chose to animate the body through pure thought alone. Where Ben had radiated strength and fear and vengeance, this one displayed nothing of the sort. In fact, the more she stared at him, pondering him, the colder she felt. The chill caused her to shiver, but her curiousity got the better of her.

"Ben? Is that you?"

The man stepped into the bar, surveying his surroundings. It wasn't so much need than force of habit that led him here. He enjoyed his drinks as much as any of the regulars here, but he hated their "company". Their drunken bawling at the end of the night was enough to disgust him and spoil his rest. Useless, pathetic souls they were, wasting their lives away and their money too. Who would've thought anyone could splurge their hard-earned dough on a temporary fixer-upper? Scanning those populating the bar, though, it was more than obvious how easy it was, judging from the myriad of social figures here. There was the millionaire Anthony Ferris at his personal booth, while at the other end, Regular Joe Hardhat was relaxing with his colleagues. Both were drinking Jack. Ah, whiskey - the preferred choice, regardless of social standing.

"Ben?"

No, it wasn't him. Ben was attractive, but not exactly what one would consider "pretty". This one was, and the chill he gave her seemed to accentuate his sharp facial features. His blonde hair was immaculate, but hardly "alive" - they flopped on his head like a golden eagle, struck down in it's prime. Her eyes gazed lower, resting on his lips - as pale as the rest of his skin, with only the slightest shade of red. It could be the lighting in the bar, she told herself, but in her heart she knew better. The man was dead. Or undead, as it seemed.

"I think you have me mistaken for someone else, my dear."

His voice was pleasing to the ear. Smooth, but without sounding lecherous. She actually felt herself drawn to him, his blue eyes piercing into hers. He held out a hand. Thin fingers but the grip was firm, rather like a bird of prey grasping its victim. She shuddered for a second, but when he spoke again, the feeling was forgotten.

"Hi, my name's Luke. What's yours?

I was thinking more Saiyuki feel, actually.

Odin. Not blind yet. Father figure, but still relatively young. Speaks to crows. Bishi. Maybe named "Whedon".
Thor. Not big sized. Strong armed, tho. Gung-ho, but tends to get beaten down a lot. Bishi. Maybe named "Thomas".
Loki. Evil. But not yet. Best part is: he's probably the nicest of the lot. Bishi. Definitely named "Luke".
Heimdall. Tall. lanky. Sharp eyed. Visionary. Not exactly down to earth. Bishi. Named "Hall"?

Just ideas. I want them to be younger and angsty so it's easier to identify with them. I think. Older people... well, don't work.

If Ragnarok is happening, they don't know it. Not even Odin.

i sent an email to different host. get 70 bucks each ready.. we slowly tu, can pay on payday.

pete: what on earth happended in the past week that was wrong?

you know, inasmuch as we can try to fathom what's going wrong by reading your blog, most of the time, we can't. sorry i'm a bad judge of character.

tell you waht. DON'T start on the writing. not yet. seriously. me and wwl just churn out a few more chars, you choose what you like, and then the premise and all that... we'll see how things go. when are you clearing leave?

----------------------------------------------

Justice: a darn good lawyer who's gotten many a criminal off the hook.
Eros: innocent girl who just gets hit by all the wrong guys.
Achilles: Lesbian who seems to be only able to wear high heels.

it's a long way to go.... premise later ok?

can?

   Sunday, May 04, 2003
To tell you the truth... I have no idea what tree the two of you are barking up. I'm totally out of synch here.

WWE Divas "AMV"... not too bad (claims no credit): http://peterlin.three-thirteen.com/Desire.mpeg

i was thinking of something grand in scope or something.

where something big happened in the heavens, and all the gods were sent to earth, and in a sense, reborn. and we use some rarer mythos instead of norse. i dunno, depends on pete cos he's writing.

then we see thru eyes of guy, like Loki, who gets recurring dreams of his past. then everywhere he goes he realises that people similar to his dreams appear around, such as, say, odin is the shopping mall's santa claus or thor is a blacksmith or something. I dunno. not too good with me norse myths. or greek myths. or anything expect maybe a little sang nila utama.

pete: comments?

   Friday, May 02, 2003
erm. you hee hawed a lot.

and... like pete said it didn't flow too well, but i guess you knew where we were going. and that's impt. and in a sense it was in the end well plotted to reach a certain point.
